What is WCAG?
WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. It is a set of guidelines developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an Internet standardization organization, to ensure the accessibility of online content for people with various types of disabilities.
WCAG sets out standards and principles that help web and mobile application developers create content that is more accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility support includes aspects such as perception (e.g. providing alternative texts for images for blind people), control (e.g. keyboard navigation for people with mobility limitations) and comprehension (e.g. clear and understandable content for people with reading difficulties ).
The WCAG guidelines are divided into three levels of accessibility: A, AA, and AAA. Level A covers basic accessibility requirements, while Level AA covers more advanced rules. AAA is the highest level and means full accessibility for most users.
Adapting to WCAG aims to ensure that web content is accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of their skills or assistive technologies used. This helps website and application developers create more accessible and user-friendly products.
